At SnipDish, we take your privacy seriously. This policy explains what data we collect, why we collect it, and how we protect it.

What We Collect

Account Information

When you create an account, we collect:

  • Email address — to identify your account and send magic link sign-ins
  • Name (optional) — to personalize your experience

We use passwordless authentication (magic links) or Google Sign-In — we never store passwords.

Recipe Data

When you use SnipDish, we store:

  • Saved recipes — the cleaned recipe cards you save to your library
  • Recipe URLs — the original links you paste (used to fetch and clean recipes)

Usage Data

We collect anonymous usage statistics to improve the app:

  • Feature usage (which features you use most)
  • Error reports (to fix bugs)
  • Performance metrics (to keep things fast)

This data is aggregated and cannot be used to identify you personally.

What We Don't Do

  • ❌ We never sell your data to third parties
  • ❌ We never share your recipes with other users (unless you explicitly share them)
  • ❌ We never use your data for advertising
  • ❌ We never read your recipes for any purpose other than displaying them to you

How We Protect Your Data

  • All data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS)
  • Passwordless authentication eliminates password-related vulnerabilities
  • Database access is restricted and logged
  • We use Supabase for secure data storage with row-level security

Third-Party Services

We use the following services to operate SnipDish:

  • Supabase — database and authentication
  • Stripe — payment processing (we never see your full card number)
  • Serper API — web search for SmartFind recipe discovery
  • OpenRouter — AI processing for recipe extraction and search
  • Railway — hosting and deployment

Each service has its own privacy policy and is bound by data protection agreements.

Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access — request a copy of all data we have about you
  • Delete — request deletion of your account and all associated data
  • Export — download your saved recipes at any time
  • Correct — update your account information

Data Retention

We keep your data as long as your account is active. If you delete your account:

  • Your recipes and collections are deleted immediately
  • Your account data is deleted within 30 days
  • Anonymized usage statistics may be retained

Cookies

We use essential cookies only:

  • Session cookie — keeps you logged in
  • Preferences cookie — remembers your settings

We don't use tracking cookies or third-party advertising cookies.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy occasionally. If we make significant changes, we'll notify you by email or through the app. Continued use of SnipDish after changes constitutes acceptance of the new policy.
